Megan Goodman with her luggage at the airportI arrived at Newark Airport on Saturday, June 8th after a long, 16 hour flight and found myself greeted by my Mom, 2 sisters, and a Dunkin Donuts iced tea and a bagel. To say I was ecstatic would be an understatement.
I now write to you from one of my favorite places in the world, my home. I have been home for 9 days now and couldn’t be happier. I loved my time in Shanghai and I learned so much not only about myself, but also about the Chinese culture and language. I will forever cherish my time abroad but all good things must come to an end.

I handled the jet lag pretty well, exhausting myself during the day so I could sleep during the night, and after about 4 days I was caught up enough to drive and start living again. Megan Goodman and her boyfriend smile togetherSince being home I have reunited with friends and family who I’ve been away from for 4 or more months. I celebrated my belated 21st birthday with my twin sister, family, and friends, I went back to Lafayette to visit my boyfriend, and I have spent much needed time with my 3 puppies.
Megan Goodman with her mother and sistersThese past 9 days have flown by; surrounding my meals around foods I’ve missed or didn’t have access to abroad, and now all of a sudden it’s time for me to get back into the real world.

All it took was 2 days for me to unpack, yet here I am, packing up again, because in 2 days from now I will be headed back to Lafayette to work for the summer as a student interviewer in the Admissions office. I am very excited to go back to school to work and to be around my boyfriend and friends. I am also grateful that it takes me just under 2 hours to access anyone else from my family, a much more convenient distance than the 16 hour flight to and from China.

I’d like to take this chance to thank everyone who read my blog and kept in contact and encouraged me to explore and make the most out of my time in Shanghai. I really enjoyed myself and am thankful for the experience to write it all down and blog about the shenanigans I encountered. Whether it was saving Meow’s life and kittens, or holding Po the Panda, I had an amazing time sharing it all with you. Thank you and have a great summer!
